CLUB KURU DOUBLE L

A mere four months on from the release of their Waiting on the Corner EP, the Club Kuru crew is back with another groove-laden, lo-fi song about patience. ‘Double L’ is built on elasticated melodies and laid-back percussion that venture towards psychedelia, downtempo jazz and ‘70s disco funk. It’s an output true to the band’s hazy, eclectic style that we’ve previously encountered on tracks ‘Not For Me’ and ‘Giving In’, and yet ‘Double L’ is perhaps even more woozy and loose than anything the London four-piece have created before. Providing an explanation for the track’s off balance breakdown is the band’s founder Laurie Erskine: "This song is about excusing yourself of responsibility and about asking how much you can accept things the way they are." - HT
