Australian singer Cleopold proved on his debut track, 'Down In Flames', that he has that trick up his sleeve, and a whole lot more. Following up a song of such subtle elegance would prove a tough ask for most new artists, but the Chet Faker affiliate is no ordinary crooner. 'Scarlet', his second ever solo release, hits all the right notes again, with sleek melodies sparring with his own heavenly vocals and grooving, downtempo rhythms. This kind of falsetto soul can err towards cheap thrills cheese-pop, but Cleopold always shows a natural degree of restraint, keeping things cool and faintly pensive to the end.
