New Polydor signings Clean Cut Kid have given us the first taste of their UV-drenched summer pop with the impossibly hooky 'Vitamin C'. Channelling some of UK indie's catchiest chorus-writers - think The Magic Numbers, The Coral, The Futureheads - the Liverpool band have a straight-up earworm on their hands, frontman Mike Halls crooning, "I'm gonna be your vitamin C / Build you back up the way you used to be." Chuck in some pogoing bass, a nagging guitar riff and scattershot percussion and you've got the recipe for an anthemic quirk-pop blast in the Haim mould. Catch them at The Social next week on 9th June - because it won't be long before they're packing out venues twice the size. - DC
