CHARLOTTE DAY WILSON WORK

We all need a song to get us through long days at work and to get us focused but Canadian singer Charlotte Day Wilson went one step further and wrote a R&B ode to getting your head down. Entitled 'Work', the Toronto singer and producer penned and edited the track in isolation in a woodland cottage with the view to getting her music career off the ground - and you can hear that determination with every resonating lyric. The clipped drum machines add a sense of purpose, reflecting the churn and repetition of daily routines, but Wilson's voice is something out of the ordinary. Her soaring harmonies with their slight vocoder treatment are out of focus (like we all get on occasions) and are deliciously captivating. With similarities to the UK’s Rosie Lowe, Charlotte Day Wilson's hard work is clearing paying off in a big way. - SJ
