CHANCVN (pronounced chan-coon) are an emerging electronic trio from Stockholm, a city which is already brimming with dreamy pop sounds but which has clearly made room for the project of Vanja Steinholtz, Sandra Karlsson and Jesper Svensson. The trio have been gigging around Sweden for about a year now, but chances are you haven’t heard of them yet, as aside from their live set credentials CHANCVN only have two songs online - the fuzz-meets-gloss debut “Heart Out” and band new release “High Life”. Lead singer Steinholtz immediately swoons into action with the words “slow dance for you”, in a mesmeric vocal that’s met with ‘80's synth gospel-esque keys. It’s all fairly reminiscent of an American high school prom watched through screens by the rest of the world. This overtly romanticised image passes, as a quickening tempo and enriched instrumentation introduces the familiar sting of heartbreak. It’s a classic tale of self-learned tough love transformed into pumped-up pop with just enough R&B and grunge touches to separate CHANCVN from the rest of the Scandi-synth pack. -HT
