London’s Bruce O Yates’s debut single ‘Circe (Aeaean Paean)’ is a winsome, spellbinding first offering. Previously, the lead singer of London band FAMY, Yates now returns with a project all of his own - with the help of his backing band, the Homos. On the evidence of this new single, he appears more relaxed, more comfortable in his own skin, and more confident to write what feels right. A profoundly enjoyable, warm-sounding record - it was recorded live, along with the rest of an EP entitled Homer - which is set for release September 12th on 12" vinyl via Handsome Dad. We’re very interested to see how this project unfolds, but for now, the glorious rock’n’roll rumbles of ‘Circe (Aeaean Paean)’ will more than suffice. -JC
