LIST PICK

BLACK MARBLE PRIVATE SHOW

Following his addictive previous List Picks 'One Eye Open' and 'Feels', the third single from Black Marble's soon to be arriving new album Bigger Than Life, is another masterclass is sadness-steeped synth pop. Juxtaposing uptempo rhythms with a post-punky bass line and melancholy synth sequences, 'Private Show' "strongly reflects the themes of solitude vs. community and counterbalancing the desire for personal recognition against the feelings of safety and anonymity derived from surrendering to something bigger than oneself." Arriving alongside a stunning video shot on film and directed by Ben Joyner, the emotive clip features a series of seemingly enjoyable social situations, singling Black Marble (aka Chris Stewart) out as an outcast. Significantly, it's the first video Stewart has appeared in himself, further highlighting his own feelings of isolation and discomfort of being in the spotlight. Bigger Than Life will be released via Sacred Bones on the 25th of October. -Holly Mullineaux
