Following in the style of last year's breakthrough Adult Jazz, Canterbury-foursome Bison Bonasus bring together eclectic influences on their new self-titled EP, making for erratic but intriguing listening. Somewhere between prog, indie and free-flowing jazz, the band uses guitars, psychedelic quirks and screaming brass to create an infectious whirlwind that'll suck you in. Our favourite 'I Don't Think About You' leads with distinctive vocals, and despite the sinister lyrics ("death is long / death is very long and cold") the track is surprisingly upbeat. With Radio 1's Phil Taggart already a fan, we reckon this band will be gracing the airwaves before too long. - SJ
