After a prolonged absence over the winter months, spring heralded the return of London's premier soul crooner Ben Khan and his idiosyncratic, funk-flecked aesthetics had only magnified in the dark days since we last heard from him. New track, '1000', taken from an EP of the same name, was packed with jittery percussion and zingy, off-kilter guitars, but the second taste of the record peels off towards Khan's "comfort zone" (not that this guy has one) with smooth licks, vibrating bass riffs and splintered beats coalescing under that honeyed tone of his.
