Brenna Miles has put out a couple of truly brilliant dark-pop ballads - 'Nine Matches' and 'Shaking Hands' - under her alter ego B. Miles this year. Attention now turns to her latest cinematic blues-filtered release, 'Salt', which dropped early last week. 'Salt' carries on some of the themes at play on Miles' previous tracks with twanging Americana guitar riffs woven around her billowing R&B vocals, but there's something more emotionally complete about this one. Perhaps it's the delicately wounded inflection in Miles' voice or the longing lyrics themselves, we'll happily listen over and over til we work it out for certain. - DC
