Audiobooks have already caused quite the stir amongst those in the know. The duo consisting of model, artist and vocalist Evangeline Ling and producer/mixing engineer extraordinaire David Wrench, have already received rave reviews from the likes of psychedelic starlet Gwenno and have stunned audiences with their experimental and good-humoured approach to songwriting. Having signed to Heavenly Recordings before their first gig, it’s safe to say our expectations were high for Audiobooks' first ever musical output. ‘Gothenburg’, the lead single from the band’s upcoming EP, doesn’t disappoint. Delivering churning industrial beats and atmospheric synthesizers contrasted against Ling’s otherwordly-vocals, ‘Gothenburg’ gets darker as it develops. Sounding something like a chance collision between the demonic snarl of Kate Bush’s ‘Waking The Witch’ and The Terror-era The Flaming Lips, it’s one of the most exciting new tracks we’ve heard in a long time. -Holly Mullineaux
