Art School Girlfriend is the exciting new project from former Deaf Club vocalist Polly Mackay. After the unfortunate yet amicable disbandment of the group in 2014 Mackay re-located to the creative community of Margate, where she was able to craft a magical new musical project, which would be entirely her own. Her debut single 'Bending Back' is a stunning minimalist composition of electronic drums, rich bass synth and haunting The xx-esque guitar lines, which ripple gently below Mackay's accomplished melodies and incredible vocal performance. It's moody and dramatic, but catchy and fragile all at once. Taken from her forthcoming EP Measures, which will be released later this month on legendary producer Paul Epworth's Wolf Tone label, 'Bending Back' reaches out a ghostly hand and beckons you to come closer. -HLMX
