Following a trailblazing run of singles including the dazzling ‘24 Carat’ (featuring Tamaraebi), the inspirational anthem ‘Overtime’ and the all-in banger ‘For Richer, For Poorer’, ascendant South London artist/producer Adian Coker has finally dropped his hotly-anticipated Buena Vistas EP on Parisian tastemaker Kistuné, and we couldn’t be happier. The kaleidoscopic release features three new tracks, all of which revolve around Coker’s typical cut-up sound collage aesthetic, but it’s been ‘X’s’ which has truly stolen our attention today. A truly bizarre collection of sonic textures, ‘X’s’ boasts soulful vocal stabs, wonky-as-all-hell beats and even Van Halen-esque guitars shredding away underneath Coker’s confident, compelling wordplay. In Coker’s own words, ‘X’s’ is an “introspective song about the path I’ve chosen and my stand in my choice”. What a path it’s been and we trust it’ll only get brighter for this rare talent. - KJ
