KYYN STAY LIT

Unlikely associations come together with dreamy affinity on KYYN’s electronic-pop single ‘Stay Lit’. Relocating from Colorado Springs to Brooklyn, Kyndyl Miller brought with her a classical piano training and an eagerness to explore new frontiers of contemporary pop, which we can hear through the modulated vocals, pulsating synths, bold percussion and highly modern production courtesy of Tiger Darrow. Adding to the disparity of the influences behind ‘Stay Lit’, KYYN also explains that the song’s subject matter was based on a text-based computer game called ‘Dark Room’, which led her to imagine a scenario of “being in a cold cabin in the middle of the woods, and the fire would keep burning out, so you or someone you’re with would need to keep getting firewood in order to survive.” An imaginative narrative all about entrapment and survival, one which we can easily apply our present thoughts onto, or we could simply enjoy the stirring instrumentation and KYYN’s sugary voice. - HT
