Jordan Rakei is producing some seriously beautiful soul / R&B records at the moment. Two months ago we wrote up the lovely ‘Sorceress’ and already the young talent is back with ‘Nerve’: a gorgeous blend of R&B, soul and warm production flourishes. As its name suggests, however, ‘Nerve’ sees a more introspective and bruised side to Rakei, with the chorus featuring the wise words ‘How can I find a reason to love you when I don’t love myself?’. But highlight of the ‘Nerve’ is saved right till the end, which features a brooding instrumental outro. ‘Nerve’ is taken from Rakei’s album, Wallflower, which is released on 22^nd September via Ninja Tune. -HM
