From the first awe-inspiring single 'Night on Earth', we have been anticipating the album that Jerkcurb (aka Jacob Read) has been working on. Delivered today on Handsome Dad Records, is his startlingly wonderful gem of a debut album Air Con Eden. The first track is 'Shadowshow' - a perfect way to start the journey of the record. Introverted guitar plucks, with precision and perfect string bends introduce the song, soon to be joined by a drum beat that gallops like a wild horse and another guitar that expands beyond the four walls of the bedroom-like atmosphere in which the song began. Harp-like harmonics create a world that glows with possibility and excitement. Vocals begin ethereal at first then the song drops into intimacy and a different plucked guitar pattern seeps salty tears that pave the way for Jacob's story-telling vocals: "I soon forgot about myself and I forgot about all things, my shadow left my body and disappeared into the tree". The song intensifies once again, accompanied by angelic female backing vocals. Jacob bawls with a pure and unrestrained vocal. 'Shadowshow' is the perfect way to start this divine body of work. -Ellie Rose Davies
