HENRY GREEN REAL

Henry Green engages us once again with his special blend of ambient electronics and indie-pop melodies on new song ‘Real’. In line with last month’s release ‘Closer’, Green practices a gentle sense of urgency particularly in the busier portions of the track where ghostly vocals and echoed guitar strums melt into intricate electronic taps. Led by the Bristolian singer-songwriter’s delicate voice, this highly atmospheric instrumentation takes on a cyclical pattern with many of Green’s poetically vague lyrics returning to our ears, bearing further into our soul. The Yumi Zouma-esque synths forming a persistent rhythm that even pushes on through the quieter moments of reflection through a trickling, grooving guitar line. It’s clear that Henry Green has come a long way from those early cover song days, but one thing that has remained the same is that voice - fluttering, soft, emotive and entirely his own. - HT
