Having severed her ties with psychedelic group The Hypnotic Eye, Grace Lightman has just presented the second instalment of solo material: ‘Fangs’. The track is a hauntingly sweet ode to revealing yourself physically and emotionally, and sees Lightman embody a sinister alter-ego, the Silver Eater. This, combined with the fact that the track will be paired with a B-side titled ‘Halloween Is Over’, makes it clear that Lightman isn’t afraid to explore her dark side. By contrast, however, the track feels much more melodic and pop-orientated than Lightman's previous releases, with production from rising star Ben Baptie (whose credits include Lady Gaga, Låpsley and Brooke Bentham). If this is the direction in which Lightman is heading then we can’t wait to hear ‘Halloween Is Over’, which will be released on 28^th July via Handsome Dad Records. -HM
