LIST PICK

GOSS TIME

As with previous List Pick ‘Waterfall’, Danish artist Goss once again presents us with an incredibly well-written piece of pop music that challenges the listener with soulful melodies and flashes of Clarence Clarity-style electronics. ‘Time’ manages to be both classic with the swaying to-and-fro rhythm, impressive lead vocal and overall romantic pop appeal, but also different with the sampled high-pitched whimpers, beefy bass and overtly computerised keys. It’s not unusual for the sake of being different; it’s alternative pop with purpose, one that rotates around the central theme of time. It’s the repetition of this periodical symbol in the chorus which really drives this song home, while fantastic lines like “at the end of me there’s a parking lot, towing all the shit that you said I got,” are craftily segwayed in the verses. Third track down and we’re still no the wiser as to who the talented Goss is. - HT
