‘Blinded’ is Emmit Fenn’s follow-up release to the explosive ‘Painting Greys’, which achieved over half a million SoundCloud hits with its Flume-esque beats and support from EDM tastemaker Mr Suicide Sheep. By contrast, ‘Blinded’ shows a much more subtle and classical-influenced style to Fenn’s repertoire. Lush, orchestral strings form the backbone of the track which build around a network of atmospheric chords and the repeating phrase: ‘Don’t leave this like I used to / ‘Cos I feel blinded, blinded by you’. The result is cinematic, evocative and highly powerful. ‘Blinded’ finally crescendos to a Cinematic Orchestra-style climax with driving drums and sonorous strings, before relaxing into the same three piano chords which opened the piece. The result is highly arresting, and shows Fenn as a highly versatile and intriguing producer. Stay tuned for more from the LA-based talent, who is sure to be dropping new tracks in 2017. -H.M
