It’s safe to say that Ama Lou has earned herself some solid fans at TMR HQ. We’ve loved and reviewed track after track of hers, from the politically charged ‘TBC’ to the soulful ‘Not Always’. We’re thrilled, therefore, that she’s just dropped the beautiful ‘Lost My Home’. As with the more synth heavy ‘Said It Already’, ‘Lost My Home’ sees Ama Lou head in a darker, more electronic direction. Wailing synths from producers LikeMinds bookend the chorus, whilst heartbeat-like percussion punctuate her breathy verses. As the London R&B scene floods with talent including the likes of Jorja Smith, Ray BLK and Cosima, what makes Ama Lou stand out are her thought provoking lyrics, inspired this time by a “response to everything that was going on at the time, in politics and personally”.
